3 big smartphone manufacturers still in battle at the same market. Apple, RIM, and Nokia. Competition getting hotter since Palm pre ready joins the party. Those manufacturers using strategy as Apple ever did on selling its Mac almost 30 years ago. They sell Hardware plus software. Smartphone treated like handphone. Software and hardware isn't separated (yet).
This strategy will last forever, or just end up like PC which is separate hardware and software? There will be winner and looser, and the winner probably not one of any manufacturers I mention above.
Asian companies are waiting and preparing. Sony, Samsung, LG, HTC, and many others can create good stuffs with great design and low cost, but they haven't their own OS. Lot easy and cheap for them having built that OS by others which are software specialist. They won't depend on symbian, iphone, or even palm because the OS' owner sell smart phone too. Not safe for the business.
There are only 2 possible option for Smart phone OS. Windows mobile from Microsoft and Android by Google. Which one becomes the winner? I bet on Windows mobile.
With smaller gap on PC and Smart phone, Microsoft won't let others beat its winmo. Microsoft will try hard on that. Loosing Winmo, than loosing its monopoly on OS PC is just about time. Microsoft will not take that risk.
On lobbying, many big companies from Asia are Microsoft' close friends. Even Sony depends on Microsoft windows for its vaio. Microsoft knowledge and experience about hardware and hardware manufacturers is much better than Google which is focus on advertising business. Their businesses are different actually.
Publicity for winmo is not intensive recently. Much fewer then 4 hits maker companies I mention above. That's OK. All publishers have to create news to make sale, right? So just wait 1 more year till Microsoft and its friends from Asia take over the business.
